1929 Laois Senior Hurling Final W/O

Kilcotton w/o from Portlaoise

In the semi finals Kilcotton and Portlaoise were to make it to another final.
Kilcotton made it through their side of the championship. Portlaoise defeated Ballacolla on 10th November, 1929 to reach the county final.

This year’s county final will always be remembered for the county final which did not happen. The final was fixed for January 12th, 1930. Portlaoise were refusing on the grounds that the county board were not entertaining a Grant in aid of an injured player. Portlaoise held that this was unfair and so withdrew from the county final.

This controversy went on into early 1930 and at a special meeting held on Sunday 6th April a decision was taken to award final to Kilcotton after Portlaoise still refused to fulfil fixture.
