Calling on family, friends and supporters to get behind this fundraiser for our Féile Teams as they prepare for the National Finals on 2nd July.

Féile is a great GAA tradition for over 50 years and we are so proud to have both boys and girls u15 teams representing Laois this year’s festival of football.

Portlaoise GAA Club is a dual GAA club catering for football, hurling and camogie from u5’s to adult teams. Two of our juvenile Féile football teams – Boys and Girls u15 – were successful in the Laois County Féile competition in recent weeks, facing tough opposition from a number of clubs across Laois to win the honour of representing the County on the national stage.

Annual Féile na nÓg

Having won the Laois competitions, our Féile squads are progressing on to the National Féile competition, GAA’s Annual Féile na nÓg, one of the biggest underage sporting events in Europe. This is a one-day festival of football which will take place on 2nd July 2022 with clubs across Dublin & Kildare hosting clubs from every other county in Ireland to compete for a national title in several divisions. Uachtarán CLG, Larry McCarthy, said Féile has been an integral part of the GAA calendar for 50 years. “It nurtures a love of our games and ensures friendship and memories are among the key benefits of involvement in the GAA”.

The importance of sport in all our lives has been emphasised by the Covid-19 pandemic. The value of our young players getting to participate, to feel included and to make memories in this competition is immeasurable. There are costs involved in attending this year’s competition which include providing the two squads with suitable sports gear for the competition and providing transport to and from the host venues across Dublin and Kildare on Saturday 2nd July.
