For our first Social Club night last night (Fri 8th April) our Games Committee met with coaches across all sections of the club to outline the support structures they have in place for the year ahead.
Key focus areas, specific skills, key language and games to support their implementation have been identified and documented. We also have support coaches in place for each age group to assist team mentors and to help ensure there’s continuity and consistency across all age groups. Better coaches make better players and there was a great appetite in the room for sharing of practice and a willingness to learn from one another. There’s also a recognition of the need to work together as one cohesive unit.
Last night was also a great opportunity for our new GPO, Shane Keegan, to meet with club coaches. We were all impressed with Shane’s vision for the role and the impact he has made already. We look forward to working closely with him in the years to come. He’ll be a tremendous asset to our club.
