A lively evening’s hurling in Abbeyleix saw Portlaoise come out on top after a high-scoring encounter against Abbeyleix St Lazarian’s in Round 4 of the U13 Hurling League Division 1A.
In a game that never lacked for action, both sides showed real attacking intent from the outset. Portlaoise were clinical in front of goal, their ability to find the net at key moments proving decisive in what was otherwise a closely fought contest.
Abbeyleix St Lazarian’s contributed fully to an entertaining spectacle, registering 4-8 of their own and asking constant questions of the Portlaoise defence. However, Portlaoise’s greater efficiency in converting chances, particularly in the goal-scoring stakes, ultimately gave them the edge.
It was a performance full of energy, skill and commitment from both sides, but on this occasion Portlaoise’s 6-10 to 4-8 victory sees them take the points in an absorbing contest.
