Our minor footballers produced an impressive display to overcome last year’s champions Crettyard/Spink in Round 4 of the U17 Football Academy League Division 1A on a sun-soaked evening in Crettyard.

The visitors made a sharp start and raced into an early 2-1 lead before Crettyard/Spink registered their opening score. That strong opening set the tone for a dominant Town performance built on hard work around the middle third and efficient finishing in attack.

Daire Brosnan’s kick-outs provided a solid platform from goals, helping Portlaoise maintain momentum and turn defence into attack consistently across the hour.

David Timmons was the standout performer in front of goal, finishing with an excellent tally of 3-5, while Portlaoise also impressed with their defensive pressure and turnover work throughout the contest.

The win secures another two league points for Portlaoise ahead of our next outing against Na Fianna Óg.
