Portlaoise produced another impressive display in the LGFA U14 A League on yesterday evening as they recorded a strong win over Sarsfields in Mountmellick.
From the outset, The Town settled into the game well and showed great intensity around the pitch, moving the ball confidently and working hard both in attack and defence. Early scores helped Portlaoise build momentum and they continued to add to their tally with some excellent point taking throughout the opening half.
Sarsfields battled hard and continued to work for every score, but Portlaoise maintained control with disciplined defending and strong teamwork across the field. The girls showed great energy in support play and made good use of possession, creating plenty of scoring opportunities over the course of the game.
A well-taken goal added to Portlaoise’s advantage and gave them a strong platform heading into the latter stages. Even with the scoreboard in their favour, the work rate never dropped, with the team continuing to press hard and finish the game strongly.
It was another encouraging performance from this group with plenty of good football on show and a real collective effort throughout the panel.
