A brilliant battling performance from our U15 hurlers tonight in Páirc Acragar saw them edge out Mountmellick Parish Gaels by the narrowest of margins to claim the Under 15 Division 3 Shield title.
Captained from goals by Adam Keogh, Portlaoise led 2-6 to 1-2 at half time after an excellent opening period. Mountmellick fought their way back into the game in the second half and managed to edge ahead entering the closing stages.
However, the lads showed great character and composure, with Zac Bowe firing over the winning point with just two minutes remaining in a very sporting and competitive contest.
Goals came from Eoin McNamara and Logan Peters Fitzpatrick, with Logan finding the net twice, one in each half.
Well done to all players and management on a great win.
