O’Dempsey’s 2-7
Portlaoise made an emphatic start to their Midlands Park Hotel U13 Football Championship League Division 1 campaign with a comprehensive 9-6 to 2-7 victory over O’Dempsey’s at the LOETB Centre of Excellence last night.
From the opening whistle, Portlaoise set a high tempo, moving the ball with pace and purpose while showing great composure in front of goal. Their attacking play yielded an impressive tally of nine goals, but it was their work rate, teamwork and determination all over the field that laid the foundations for a deserved opening-round win.
O’Dempsey’s battled throughout and never let their heads drop, but Portlaoise maintained their intensity to see out the contest and claim their first two points of the campaign.
Attention now turns to Round 2, where Portlaoise travel to take on Ballyfin on Monday, 20th July, with throw-in at 6.30pm in Ballyfin GAA Grounds.
