Portlaoise recorded a strong win away to Ballyfin in Round 5 of the U17 Hurling Academy League Division 1B yesterday evening.

Played in Ballyfin GAA grounds, this was a competitive and entertaining contest with both sides showing plenty of quality throughout. Portlaoise worked hard across the pitch and showed good sharpness in attack, taking some excellent scores over the course of the game.

Ballyfin remained in the contest throughout and carried a threat in front of goal, but Portlaoise responded well whenever needed and continued to battle hard in all areas of the field.

The Town finished strongly and some important scores in the closing stages helped secure a deserved four-point victory.
