Portlaoise 2-9
Ballyroan 2-5
Our U14 girls recorded an excellent win over Ballyroan in Round 5 of the LGFA U14 C League in Ballypickas this evening, producing a strong all-round team performance to come away with a four-point victory.
Played in good conditions, the game was competitive throughout with both sides showing plenty of determination and attacking intent. Ballyroan started brightly and asked early questions of the Portlaoise defence, but The Town settled well into the contest and gradually began to take control around the middle of the field.
Portlaoise worked hard for scores and showed great movement in attack, with some well-taken points helping to build momentum during the opening half. Ballyroan remained dangerous throughout and stayed in touch thanks to a couple of important scores of their own, leaving the game finely balanced heading towards the closing stages.
The crucial moments arrived in the second half when Portlaoise struck for two well-worked goals which gave them breathing space on the scoreboard. The girls continued to battle hard all over the pitch, defending strongly when needed while also showing plenty of composure in possession.
Ballyroan never dropped their intensity and kept pushing right to the finish, but Portlaoise responded well and saw the game out with some excellent teamwork and disciplined play.
Overall, it was a very encouraging display from the Portlaoise girls with great effort, teamwork and determination shown throughout the panel.
Well done to all of the players and management on a deserved win.
