Maryborough Objected on two Points:

1. Referee Jack Delaney had made a bet on the game

2. The Illegal constitution of the Raheenabrogue team – Andrew Carroll

 

Appeal was heard at Mountrath on Sunday 13th January, 1907. Refereeand match was awarded to Raheenabrogue. Mr Bunworth (Maryborough) gave notice of appeal report was upheld. On the grounds of the objection against Andrew Carroll had played for Ballyroan Juniors and Raheenabrogue seniors and it was proved that it was another Andrew Carroll and match was awarded to Raheenabrogue.
Mr Bunworth (Maryborough) gave notice of appeal to the Leinster Council. Ref The Nationalist Paper on 19th January, 1907, appeal seems to have been successful. Jackie Hyland, historian from The Heath comments that records show Raheenabrogue as champions as of today – he has a medal in his possession indicating Maryboro as champions of 1906 – “Looks like a wrong waiting to be corrected”
