Laois Intermediate Hurling
Winning Years
1935, 1942;
Portlaoise GAA Club has played in two Laois Intermediate Hurling Championship finals, winning both. The first came in 1935, with a strong win over Ballyfin, finishing 3-08 to 2-00. The second came in 1942, when we saw off Ballygeehan on a scoreline of 6-05 to 3-00.
In the late 1940s, Rovers—a Portlaoise-based GAA club—along with Kilminchy, joined forces with Portlaoise to play under the Portlaoise GAA banner. We’ve included Rovers’ victories here as part of our shared history.
Rovers won the Intermediate Championship twice, in 1945 and 1948, getting the better of Raheen and Camross.
